Barefoot In My Kitchen
Love With Food

Early childhood brings about memories of candy corn, mint jelly, and cola - all of which I will not touch to this day. But later I was blessed with a mom who not only loved to cook, she was really good at it! We always had great meals and you could tell she put time, effort, and love into them.

At eight years old I started cooking and baking alongside her. She often cooked with whatever was on-hand and that is most often what I do to this day - making up things as I go.

My mom has been one of the most influential people in my life, especially as it pertains to loving with food. After a time when food seemed scarce and mealtimes were stressful, I am grateful for her showing me love in this way.  Now I show my love for others...with food.

Use what you have and allow your creativity to come forward. They won't all be winners, but you will find you grow in your ability to use what you have on-hand to make better meals each time. And those who are blessed to be part of your circle, will be grateful and know they're loved.

I love a gorgeous pair of high heels, but when I'm at home, I am in my element when barefoot in my kitchen.
